Shops selling products that contain CBD \u2013 the non-psychoactive, \u201cfeel good\u201d compound from cannabis \u2013 are spreading across France after a court ruled that the country could not ban the substance\u2019s sale.<\/p>\n
CBD, or cannabidiol, can be found in everything from tea, to olive oil, honey, massage oil, cosmetics, and beyond. It is derived from the cannabis plant, but \u2013 in contrast to cannabis itself \u2013 it offers a purely relaxing result, with no psychoactive compounds or effects.<\/p>\n
One proponent of the product, Aur\u00e9lien Delecroix, president of the professional union, le Syndicat professionnel du chanvre (SPC), has even said that \u201cthe French market for CBD could reach \u20ac1 billion\u201d.<\/p>\n
On November 19 this year, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled that France could not ban the sale of CBD that had been legally produced in another European country member state.<\/p>\n
Ludovic Rachou, treasurer of the SPC, said: \u201cThe ECJ [also] concluded that CBD was not a narcotic.\u201d<\/p>\n
